WHY MOST PEOPLE NEVER GO

The dream is clear. The path isn't.

Which boat do I buy?

Thousands of options, a thousand opinions. You need a framework, not more noise.

How do I navigate offshore?

GPS, charts, weather, tides — manageable when taught in the right sequence.

How dangerous is it, really?

There are real risks. You should understand them clearly — not to fear them, but to be ready.

What experience do I actually need?

Courses, sea miles, certifications — what matters before you go, and what doesn't.

This book is everything I've learned from a lifetime at sea and all the shortcuts I wish I knew when I started sailing. It truly is the best life in the world, you just have to begin.

A Note From the Author
"My biggest goal in life is to help more people connect with the ocean, This book is the beginning of that effort"
I wrote this book because the knowledge that gets you across an ocean isn't complicated — it's just scattered. Every page is filled with all the exact info I wish I knew when I started, plus all the tips and advice I've learned from a lifetime at sea. With enough common sense, courage and curiosity, I fully believe that anyone can cross an ocean. You just have to start.

Definitely would not have found Australia if it wasn't for Noa's perfectly explained lesson on navigating by the stars! The country isn't all that great but at least we have somewhere to send our convicts!

I was having a bit of a 'race' with the British navy and they absolutely would have caught me.. I mean, won.. if I hadn't taken the time to learn those secret navigation tips from Noa's book before I went sailing. Total lifesaver!

Everyone said that Cape Horn was the only way around South America.. Luckily I had picked up a copy of How To Cross An Ocean before setting off and I was able to recognise the signs Noa talked about to find a lovely little straight through Tierra Del Fuego. Saved me a huge headache!

The Cape of Good Hope is not an easy stretch of water to get around.. Luckily I had read the chapter about navigating with ocean currents from Noa's book: How to Cross an Ocean before and the crew an I made it past no problem!

Don't listen to that little man Magellan. Cape Horn is good fun if you know how to sail it properly! I just paid attention to Noa's tips about storm warning signs and I made it all the way to Antartica!
